Erma A. Nulton, 92, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Maple Ridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Kingston, where she had been a resident since 2017. She was born in Lake Township, a daughter of the late Bruce and Gertrude Hoover Crispell. Erma was a 1950 graduate of Laketon High School and was voted May Queen her senior year. Prior to her retirement, she was employed for many years as a sales clerk in the bakery at Boscov’s Department Store in Wilkes-Barre. Erma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pittston. For many years she was a member the First Welsh Baptist Church in Wilkes-Barre, where she served as a deaconess, choir member and Sunday School teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Rev. Donald G. Nulton in 2011 and by her daughter, Lois E. Kretchmer in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth and Willard Crispell and by her sister, Arlene Swinehart. Erma is survived by her son, Timothy D. Nulton, West Pittston; and by her son-in-law, Dr. Donald Kretchmer, Shavertown; grandchildren, Amanda Brezovsky, Michael Kretchmer and his wife Caitlin, Shavertown, Jordan Nulton, Emmaus and Tyler Nulton, Shavertown; great grandchildren, Ava Brezovsky, Mason and Krew Kretchmer. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, special thank you to her niece and nephew, Beverly and Ray Wandel, Harveys Lake. Erma’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the 4th floor at Maple Ridge for their loving and compassionate care. Private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family from the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Warden Cemetery, Dallas.
