Obituary of Frank D. Brizgint Jr.

Retired US Army Sergeant First Class, Frank D. Brizgint Jr., 77, of Wilkes-Barre passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at his home.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Frank D. Brizgint Sr. and Ann Scott Brizgint. Frank was a 1965 graduate of E.L. Meyers High School, where he was an All-Scholastic football player and a two-time District Champion in the Javelin.
Frank’s military career spanned 39 years. He proudly served with the 109th Field Artillery as a “M” Day soldier and active duty and (AGR) duty for over 25 years, prior to his retirement in 2005. He was deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom and was stationed in Quatar most of his tour. He was the recipient of numerous medals and citations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. He was also the recipient of the Ancient Order of St. Barbara Award from Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
He was an avid fisherman and a devoted of the Dallas Cowboys
He was a member of Wilkes-Barre Township American Legion Post 815, the Free Masons, Lodge# 61, and the Four Jays Gun Club, Estelle, PA.
Frank is survived by his loving wife 54 years, Janice R. Olex Brizgint; daughter, Jennifer Lelakowski and her husband, Mark, White Haven; son, Frank Brizgint, Exeter; grandchildren, Alexis Harris and her husband, Brandon, Avory Brizgint and her fiancé, Chris Caruso, Frank and Seth Brizgint; great grandchildren, Jaxson, Jameson, Ava, Kaycee, Cora and Christopher; sisters, Sandra Snook, Hanover Township, Rosemary Harlen, Kingston; brother, Robert Brizgint, Mountain Top; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:30 am from the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Rev. Kevin M. Miller, Pastor of the Annunciation Parish in Hazleton, will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 – 11:30 am on Saturday at the funeral home.
