Cheryl “Sheri” A. Lavelle, 75, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Wednesday April 23, 2025, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Sheri was born in Meshoppen the daughter of the late Harry Paul and Winifred Vangordon Lavelle. She graduated from Tunkhannock High School, class of 1967. Sheri worked at the former Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre and Bielecki Scrap & Recycling Center, Wilkes-Barre, prior to retirement. Sheri was a devoted mother, grandmother, and tireless provider, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and unwavering love. She was a woman defined by her incredible work ethic, her generous heart, and the deep pride she took in her family. Throughout her life, Sheri worked tirelessly to ensure that those she loved never went without. Her determination to provide wasn’t just about meeting needs—it was an expression of her love, a testament to the lengths she would go for the people who mattered most to her. Whether working long hours or lending a comforting ear, Sheri was always there, showing up with grace and resilience. She was immensely proud of her son, whose accomplishments brought her endless joy; her daughter-in-law, whom she welcomed with open arms and genuine affection; and her cherished grandson, who was the light of her life. Sheri never missed an opportunity to speak about them with admiration and love—her pride in them was a constant presence in her conversations and in her heart. Sheri will be remembered not only for her hard work and selfless nature but also for the warmth she brought into every room. She gave generously, loved deeply, and inspired those around her with her kindness and compassion. She leaves behind a family who adored her, countless friends whose lives she touched, and memories that will continue to shine with the light she brought into this world. Sheri Lavelle’s love was a gift—steady, strong, and unconditional—and it will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was preceded in death by husband, Daniel Williams, Brothers Harry Lavelle, Robert Lavelle, sisters, Alberta St. Clair Lavelle, and Bonnie Lavelle. She is survived by her son, Timothy Lavelle and his wife Heather, Wilkes-Barre, grandson, T.J. Lavelle, Wilkes-Barre, stepchildren, Daniel Williams Jr. and wife, Christine, Towanda; Jennifer Bowersox and husband, Craig, Shavertown; Karen Williams; Brian Williams and wife, Jennifer, Wilkes-Barre, step grandchildren, Corey and Jared Hodgson; Kevin and Kyle Culver; Hailey, Kaiden, Everly and Grayson Williams, brother Larry Lavelle, Beech Creek, PA, sisters, Judy Purinton Lavelle, Kentucky, Lori Towner Inhulsen and her husband Jay, North Carolina, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. April 30, 2025, at Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
