Obituary of Rose Lynn DePietropaolo
Please share a memory of Rose Lynn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rose Lynn Ritz DePietropaolo, of Pittston Township, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born on September 3, 1949, Rose Lynn was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Constantino) Ritz.
A 1967 graduate of Pittston Area High School, Rose Lynn went on to work as a waitress at the Woodlands Inn and later in the Environmental Services Department at Geisinger Wyoming Valley’s Emergency Room. She was a member of St. Joseph Marello Parish.
Her kitchen was the heart of her home. Whether it was a holiday feast or a simple weeknight dinner, she poured love into every dish she prepared. Her sons, grandchildren, and friends all knew that if they walked through her door, there would be a plate waiting — and she wouldn’t let them leave without eating something.
Working in her yard was one of her greatest joys — a space where she found both peace and purpose, nurturing life with the same care she gave to her family.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing her spirit lives on in the values she instilled and the lives she touched. She will be missed more than words can express.
Rose Lynn is survived by her two sons, Jason of Pocono Pines, and Michael of Corpus Christi, Texas; and her beloved grandchildren, Gianna and Luca DePietropaolo of Jenkins Township, and Mia and Dominick DePietropaolo of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is also survived by her best friend and sister, Barbara Ritz Foster, with whom she resided and was rarely seen without. Their bond was one of deep love, laughter, and unwavering support — a true example of lifelong companionship.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston.
Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you plant something beautiful in your yard in her honor — just as she would have done.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the General Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for their exceptional care, compassion, and support during Rose Lynn’s final days.
Arrangements are by the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.
