Frederick G. “Freddy” Sam September 7, 2025 Frederick G. “Freddy” Sam, 70, of Kingston, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at his home. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Frederick A. and Esther Ellis Sam. Freddy was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, Class of 1973. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He did his post graduate work at UCLA and he attended the Hypnotism Training Institute in Glendale, California. Freddy was self-employed as a hypnotherapist. He was a member of the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners. A talented musician, he loved to playing the guitar and keyboard and composing his own music. He instilled a great love of music in his children. His favorite times were spent with his wife Mary, the love of his life, and his beloved sons. He was a member of St. Anthony-St. George Maronite Catholic Church in Wilkes-Barre and he a member of the Knights of Lebanon. Freddy is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Funk Sam, and by his sons, Erick J. Sam, JD-Ph.d, Salt Lake City, Utah and Gregory F. Sam, Atlantic City, New Jersey. He is also survived by numerous cousins and nieces and nephews. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11 am at St. Anthony-St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 311 Park Avenue, Wilkes- Barre. Rev. Adib Salameh will officiate. A visitation will be held at the Church, prior to the Service from 10-11am. Those attending the visitation and service are asked to go directly to the Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Anthony-St. George Maronite Catholic Church c/o 323 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702 Condolences may be sent by visiting Freddy’s obituary at www.ngjfuneral.com .​ Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.
