Dear Richie Family,
I know you do not know me, but I was raised on Dana Steet, Wilkes Barre. My family lived 2 houses from the Engels. When my sister Maureen and I were both toddlers, my mother hired Joanie as a babysitter after school. Many afternoons, we would meet up with Joanie's friend Etta Laufer, while she was babysitting her 2 young sisters, Karen and Mary Lou, and another friend of theirs, last name Miller, while she babysat her young sister Marcia. We always enjoyed our times together. Fast forward 15 years, and Karen Laufer and Marcia Miller and I are classmates at St. Nicholas, "65, along with Maureen and Mary Lou Laufer, "67. Marica, Karen and I just attended our 60th high school reunion this summer.
I am so sorry to hear of Joanie passing, but I have wonderful memories of all of us so many years ago.
Engels were wonderful neighbors, and Joanie was always very special to us.
