Obituary of Eleanor Zbegner

Eleanor Zbegner, 92, of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at her home. She was born in Wilkes-Barre Township, a daughter of the late Andrew and Helen Hresko Sipos. Eleanor attended Wilkes-Barre Township Schools. Eleanor was a loving and kind person, who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, and aunt. She was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Wilkes-Barre. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Zbegner in 1987 and by her son, Thomas Zbegner. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Gola and by her brothers, Joseph and John Sipos. Eleanor is survived by her children, Frank Zbegner and his wife, Marian, Mark Zbegner, Theresa Capral and her husband, John, Bernadine Zbegner and Carol Zbegner; sister, Bernadine Naugle; and by her nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the Church on Friday. Private interment will be in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas.
