Dolores (Sisco) Demko, 93, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Mountain Top Healthcare Center. She was born in Lake Township, the daughter of the late George and Catherine (Scorupa) Sisco. Dolores was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Class of 1950. Prior to her retirement, Dolores was a career-long employee of the Wilkes-Barre Area School District having worked for over forty years as a Secretary/Aide at Daniel J. Flood and Kistler Elementary schools. Dolores was a faithful and devoted member of Saints Peter & Paul Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Wilkes-Barre. Dolores will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose care and kindness were felt deeply by those who knew her. Holiday dinners at her home were some of her favorite and most cherished times. Family and friends gathered around her festive dining table celebrating her warmth, love and delicious cooking. Comfort at the holidays will come from remembering her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Demko, in 2022 and by her son, Robert Demko, in 2024. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, George A. and William Sisco. Dolores is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Demko) Jankouskas and her husband, Phil, of Cape Coral, FL and by her son, Michael G. Demko and his wife, Jacqueline, of Mountain Top; granddaughters, Stephanie (Demko) Ashford and her husband, Sean of Spring City, PA and Michelle (Demko) Nardone and her husband, Steven, of Benton, LA; and her great granddaughter, Eleanor Ashford, and by her nieces and nephews. Divine Liturgy Services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11 am in Saints Peter & Paul Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, 635 North River Street, Wilkes-Barre, Rev. Myron Myronyuk, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4 – 7 pm at the Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre and on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 10 – 11 am at the Church. Those attending the Divine Liturgy Service are asked to go directly to the Church on Friday. Panachida Services will be held on Thursday at 5 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dolores’s memory to Saints Peter & Paul Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, 635 North River Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
