Jimmy was one of my oldest friends and I knew him since 1968. He had a way to make the most bleak of situations fun somehow and I appreciated his sense of humor very much. I will always remember him as an adventurous and capable person. When he was younger, he had the coolest moves, whether it was diving or something like that and he could run faster in reverse than I could run forward. He actually rescued me from drowning once. We had some of the most amazing episodes that I just can't repeat here but I will remember forever from working on the flood cleanup crews with George Swan and Baldy McMullins, to trips to the Jersey shore and Atlantic City in the days before casinos to Philadelphia in the early 70's to Hermosa Beach in California in the 80's, we had a lot of fun together. I miss him already and his birthday is tomorrow (August 23) and he didn't quite make it to 74. He did outlive his 3 brothers. He certainly had a full life.

I almost forgot about the bicentennial celebration in Philadelphia in 1976! It was the largest crowd I have ever seen (estimated to be around 1,000,000) around city hall. Jimmy and I were sitting on the steps of city hall,, smoking some of the best weed and hash, I had seen up to that point. It was peaceful and hopeful for the future.
