Obituary of Jill M. Johnson

Jill M. Gregory Johnson, 62, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Monday August 19, 2024, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Wilkes-Barre the daughter of the late James and Arlene Wynn Gregory. Jill was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School, class of 1980 and The Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. She was the manager of Arthur Treacher’s restaurant and was an award-winning manager at Arby’s restaurant. Jill along with her husband founded Floormasters Flooring Company, that did work for the Pennrose Housing Corp., installing flooring in several states and municipalities for over 10 years. she was a member of The New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church, Wilkes-Barre. While in high school, Jill was member of the G.A.R. Brass Orchestra playing the French Horn and she served as a part time conductor. She was also a member of the cheerleaders, serving as a head cheerleader. Jill contributed to the success of the championship flag football team, the Outlaws. She served as the manager of equipment purchasing and team distribution. Jill was an avid volleyball player and fan. She played volleyball, while attending high school and after graduating, she played with the Noids volleyball team and the Outlaws volleyball team. In her final days, Jill and Jettie, watched and cheered the USA Women’s Olympic Team to victory. She is preceded in death by daughter, Sabina Cordy in 2008, sisters, Connie Parker and Donna Barnes. Survived by her husband of 34 years, Jettie Johnson, sons, Taj Johnson, Edwardsville; Jettie Johnson, Pittston; daughters, Soraya Cordy, Wilkes-Barre; Nakia Morrissey, Hanover Twp.; grandchildren, Taj Jr. Jalissa, Xavier, Scott, King, Soraya, Sequoia, Natalie, Aria, Brella and Nikia; great grandson, Zadian; sisters, Cynthia Barnes, Allentown; Bonnie Johns and her husband Kenneth, Cantor, GA; Audrey Bailey and her husband Bruce, Mountain Top; Licia Gregory, Pittston; brothers, Brian Parker, Wilkes-Barre, Kevin Parker, Harrisburg; several, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Going Home Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at The New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church, 780 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Rev. James Breese will officiate. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at The New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church.
