Obituary of Dorothy J. Dobish

Dorothy J. Dobish daughter of the late John and Clara Boris Sabatura of Hanover Twp. Passed away Sunday August 25, 2024, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph Dobish, brothers, Thomas and John Sabatura, and son in law, Keith Casey. Dorothy attended Hanover Area Schools and McCann Business School. She retired from The First Eastern Bank Operation Center. She previously worked at Eberhard Faber Pencil Co. and Ashley Quilting Co. Dorothy was an active member of Holy Rosary Church, Ashley and later St. Leo the Great. She was on the first Pastoral Council of Holy Rosary Church and was a member and past president of the St. Vincent De Paul Society and a member of the Altar and Rosary / St. Ann’s Society. Dorothy was active in the church’s summer festivals, fundraisers, and charity work. She was a volunteer at the Ashley Area Food Pantry and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Newtown Fire Co. #2. She is survived by her son, Joseph Dobish (Maria), daughters, Karen Lee, Patricia Skilonger (Tom) and Christine Casey, grandchildren: Shaun, Tommy, Amy, Rebecca, Steven, step-grandson Michael and 9 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday September 3, 2024, in St. Leo The Great Parish 33 Manhattan St., Ashley A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy’s name to the Ashley Area Food Pantry located at St. Leo the Great Parish. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Nat Gawlas Jordan Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave. Wilkes-Barre.
