Obituary of Mary Konsavage

Mary Ann Konsavage, 87, a resident of Highland Park Senior Living in Wilkes-Barre Township, formerly of Wilkes-Barre passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 in Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in the Lee Park Section of Hanover Township, a daughter of the late Peter and Victoria Natitus Stuscavage. As a child she enjoyed softball, volleyball and being a member of her high school band. Mary Ann was a 1954 graduate of Hanover Township Memorial High School and she was a graduate of the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Wilkes-Barre. Following graduation, she was first employed as a nursing supervisor at the Mercy Hospital. She continued her career as a nursing supervisor at Little Flower Manor and at the John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, where she was a CRRN. Her career in nursing spanned over 50 years. Mary Ann was a member of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Wilkes-Barre. Prior to its closure, she had been member of the former Holy Trinity Church in Wilkes-Barre for many years. Mary Ann loved to travel and enjoyed cruising with family. She also enjoyed her trip to casinos. Both Mary Ann and Frank were family oriented and always looked forward to the annual Natitus family reunions, where everyone could catch up and get together. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, where her entire family would gather to enjoy the holiday and Lithuanian food. She was an animal lover and always mentioned her Border Collie “Chipper” who she talked about frequently. Mary Ann loved to make people smile and she was a good listener. Throughout her life, she always comforted others by saying “I’ll say a prayer to St. Jude for you, he will help you.” After the death of her husband, Frank, in 2021, Mary Ann embarked on a new adventure in life and moved to Highland Park Senior Living, where she resided until her passing. She always said that she was now living comfortably, and she and loved spending time with her niece, Joanie, who was also a resident there. She said that there were no worries living there and that if you were bored there it was your own fault. Mary Ann enjoyed all the activities they had to offer and friends that she made at Highland Park. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Frank J. Konsavage Jr., whom she married on May 24th 1958. She was also preceded in death by her brother, George Stuscavage. Mary Ann leaves behind 5 children, Donna Letcher, Michigan and her children, Jack, Kimmy Lussier and Jeff; Rick Konsavage, Longboat Key, Florida and his children, Brittaney, Ricky and Victoria; Sharon Tyson and her husband, Thomas, Wilkes-Barre and their children, Trisha Thomas, Tommy, Tyler and Steven; Patricia Dziak and her husband, Mike, Exeter; and Mary Ann, Sugar Loaf and her children, Josie Thomas, Dr. Kara Sanford, Alexis Sanford and Dane Sanford. She also leaves behind 3 great grandchildren and her sister, Patsy Mulhern, Palatine, Illinois. The Konsavage family would like to thank the staff at Highland Park Senior Living for taking such good care of our Mother. A celebration of Mary Ann’s life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations, may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or to the American Diabetes Association.
